Part of Everett’s new series, Visions//Omens, the artist examine their dreams and creative concepts found in meditations. These omens or visions are sometimes unprompted, and lead to further reflection on the images and feelings that they’re left with upon painting what was seen.
This work of art, embodying a new “keyhole” technique in which Everett paints a multitude of viewpoints, was completed the week before Pope Francis’ death, and depicts a duplicity of both holy and infernal themes. Is this a foretelling, or just a metaphor? You decide.
